The Director, Integrated Marketing will drive creative strategic initiatives designed to increase visibility of the League, clubs and players and position MLS as a leader in corporate social responsibility.  This role will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of the League’s philanthropic efforts, which includes developing strategic marketing plans, communications strategies and programs intended to build and extend the MLS WORKS brand, attract new fans and further engage our existing community in authentic and compelling ways.

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in managing integrated, cross-functional marketing initiatives and the ability to think creatively, provide innovative solutions and develop solid strategic plans.


  • Assist in the development of fan-centric strategic plans that target key social issues, increase local relevancy and enhance the MLS and MLS WORKS brands
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of MLS WORKS initiatives; ensure program elements are met and objectives of MLS WORKS and any associated corporate and charitable partners remain aligned
  • Direct oversight of individual program and/or event budgets; work with Vice President on overall department P&L
  • Collaborate across business units to ensure MLS WORKS messaging/branding is accurate and appropriately reflected across all platforms
  • Work closely with MLS clubs on implementation of MLS WORKS strategic plans to help drive value, relevancy and strengthen CSR efforts throughout local markets
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with club community relations staff, external program partners and community organizations
  • Oversee MLS WORKS social and digital platforms, with support from the MLS Content department, including content development and promotional schedules
  • Engender a culture of innovation and challenge the status quo while maintaining the integrity of the MLS WORKS brand through the various departments and interactions this role delivers
  • Manage hiring and onboarding process by interviewing, selecting, orienting and training employees
  • Accomplish team results by communicating job expectations and manage the Performance Management process: 
    • Plan, monitor, and review performance;
    • Coach and counsel employees;
    • Develop and implement department procedures and productivity standards and reinforce Company policies
  • Develop personal growth opportunities for employees


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8-10+ years of experience

Required Skills

  • Understanding of sports and entertainment sponsorships, including promotions, events, media, and client services
  • Marketing experience in brand awareness and positioning, fan engagement and partnership marketing
  • Proactive and results driven
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities in a calm and efficient manner
  • Experience managing a team
  • Experience aligning projects and initiatives with a strong eye on ROI
  • Knowledge of social media and basic website function/navigation
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think strategically, communicate effectively and demonstrate leadership qualities
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel
