  • Overview

    As a member of the Media Partnerships group, the Director of Social and Digital Partnerships will play a key role in determining how MLS content (both live and non-live) is viewed across the media ecosystem.  The Director of Social and Digital Partnership will be the chief steward in fostering relationships with all emerging digital and social platforms, such as Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, etc.  This role will focus on increasing viewership of the sport across all viewing platforms,  with a focus on growing the League’s reach, ratings, and relevancy with our social and digital partners. 

    Responsibilities

    • Drive innovation for MLS by building strong relationships with dynamic media partners, such as Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, etc. 
    • Manage day-to-day key social and digital media relationships including: new technology, beta tests, product launches, promotions, content management, planning and commercial support and integration
    • Monitor and track social/digital media performance with League’s media and content performance management team
    • Establish ongoing relationships with MLS Clubs to ensure Clubs are integrated with League media partners
    • Collaborate across internal functional areas (ex. Marketing, Production, Content) to ensure social and digital media strategy is executed and integrated with all areas of the MLS business
    • Coordinate with Senior Director, Content Distribution on the transition from new business to partner management
    • Identify social media trends and recommend new business strategies
    • Manage hiring and onboarding process by interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees
    • Accomplish team results by communicating job expectations and managing the Performance Management process:
      • Plan, monitor, and review performance;
      • Coach and counsel employees;
    • Develop and implement department procedures and productivity standards and reinforce Company policies
    • Develop personal growth opportunities for employees 

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Support other media partnerships (ex. Domestic broadcast partners) where/as needed
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 8+ years of experience in digital media 

    Requirements

    • Strong knowledge of the social media landscape
    • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
    • Enjoys and excels at working cross-functionally and managing external/partner relationships
    • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and strong PowerPoint skills
    • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision under tight timelines

    Desired skills

    • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
    • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
    • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
