    This role is expected to be a key member of the enterprise’s new business efforts across Soccer United Marketing (SUM) properties: including, but not limited to Major League Soccer (MLS), U.S. Soccer Federation, Mexican Soccer Federation, CONCACAF, etc. In addition to securing new, strategic marketing partnership for SUM, this position will be responsible for collaborating with a team that impacts the business of MLS’ Clubs, media partners and other properties.   

    Responsibilities

    • Meet or exceed annual revenue goals for the Business Development team’s responsibilities across all SUM properties but with a focus on MLS
    • Take a team sales approach and collaborate with department counterparts to close new business to achieve both individual and collective goals
    • Develop deep, meaningful relationships with national decision makers at brands that lead to long-term partnerships
    • Build and deliver strategic sales presentations catered to senior-level executives at prospective clients and agencies
    • Negotiate sponsorship deals with support from management
    • Provide mentorship to a supporting member of the team

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Understand company dynamics and in-house capabilities to uncover integrated opportunities that also benefit other departments of the company
    • Develop a deep understanding of the domestic and international soccer landscape to aid in the sales process
    • Support Business Development management in other business-related efforts
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 5+ years of experience selling complex, integrated marketing rights and media platforms
    • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales goals
    • Ability to take a client through the entire sales funnel, from lead generation to closing
    • Existing “decision maker” brand contacts at national level and agency relationships
    • Ability to navigate and collaborate with counterparts in other functional areas including Partnership Marketing, Integrated Media Solutions, Property and Commercial Development, Legal, etc.
    • Self-starter, but team player with the ability to work against both aggressive individual and department sales goals
    • Superior business and negotiating skills
    • Strong presentation skills
    • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

     

    Desired Skills:

    • Knowledge of the sport of soccer, and specifically MLS
