  • Overview

    The Properties and Events department manages Soccer United Marketing (“SUM”) Property partnerships (U.S. Soccer Federation (“USSF”), Federación Mexicana de Futbol, CONCACAF, Liga MX, eMLS, and others).  It oversees the development, planning, and execution of Major League Soccer (“MLS”) and SUM platforms in North America, including marquee events like MLS All-Star, CONCACAF Gold Cup, MLS Cup, the Mexican National Team U.S. Tour, MLS Heineken Rivalry Week, eMLS Cup, and U.S. Soccer Federation programming. The group also spearheads organization-wide initiatives, including hospitality/B2B programming, press/media events, department/executive meetings, competition events and the development of new platforms / partnerships for the enterprise. The Events department also supports cross-departmental initiatives including press announcements, department/executive meetings, competition events and strategy projects.  

     

    This Senior Coordinator position will assist the execution of marketing strategies for MLS and SUM tent-pole events including MLS All-Star, CONCACAF Gold-Cup, MLS Cup, Mexican National Team Tour and others as assigned. This role will act as a key stakeholder in the promotional and sales initiatives to maximize event revenue opportunities.  

     

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Execute marketing and ticket sales strategy around all MLS/SUM events including MLS ASG, MLS CUP, Gold Cup, Mexican National Team US Tour and other assigned events to drive revenue
    • Manage internal and external partners to develop creative that aligns with the brand and meets all deadlines
    • Implement event advertising strategy, including the placement of media buys in radio, television, print, online, and billboards and traffic collateral to partners
    • Create, write copy, and execute paid digital media campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, SEM, and Retargeting)
    • Maximize campaign strategies with data acquisition opportunities and build out CRM prospects around assigned events
    • Manage SUM event email campaigns to promote ticket sales and awareness
    • Manage tour website to ensure most relevant and accurate information is always included
    • Work with vendors to successfully produce in-stadium branding for elevated fan experience
    • Leverage relationships with local sports franchises to create additional touchpoints in market
    • Create and execute grassroot marketing and promotional activities for SUM events in key markets for sales and marketing initiatives (street teams, mascot tours, media tours, legend appearances, etc.)
    • Focus on brand presence in the local community; identify key local organizations and/or partnerships for promotional opportunities
    • Support the development of new marketing platforms across SUM, with a focus on opportunities to enhance the fan experience and support commercial partners
    • Coordinate and execute in-market influencer and content media plans (ticket giveaways, brand promotions, etc.)
    • Manage marketing budget and refine tracking process
    • Produce post-match marketing recap and analysis
    • Manage promotional inventory and oversee general office duties (invoice processing, creative requests, collateral/presentation design, promotional orders and shipping, etc.)
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 3-5 years of experience in sports marketing or brand marketing

    Required Skills

    • Expert PowerPoint skills
    • Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail
    • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment with minimal supervision
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
    • Excellent Word, Excel, and Outlook ability
    • Ability to translate strategic concepts to presentations, overview reports, etc.
    • Proficiency with creative development platforms (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign)
    • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills

     Desired Skills

    • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
    • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
    • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
