  • Overview

    The Properties and Events department manages Soccer United Marketing (“SUM”) Property partnerships (U.S. Soccer Federation (“USSF”), Federacion Mexicana de Futbol, CONCACAF, Liga MX, eMLS, and others).  It oversees the development, planning, and execution of Major League Soccer (“MLS”) and SUM platforms in North America, including marquee events like MLS All-Star, CONCACAF Gold Cup, MLS Cup, the Mexican National Team U.S. Tour, MLS Heineken Rivalry Week, eMLS Cup, and U.S. Soccer Federation programming. The group also spearheads organization-wide initiatives, including hospitality/B2B programming, press/media events, department/executive meetings, competition events and the development of new platforms / partnerships for the enterprise.


    Position Summary

    This Senior Coordinator position will manage the platform development process for MLS Big Events, including the MLS All-Star Game, MLS Decision Day Presented by AT&T, Heineken Rivalry Week, and others in addition to new platforms.  This role will act as a key stakeholder, integrating groups from throughout the League office and MLS Clubs.


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Support the development of new marketing platforms across MLS, with a focus on opportunities to support fan development and commercial and media partners
    • Research new market opportunities for Big Events and supporting platforms
    • Develop the planning process and facilitation of existing MLS Big Events (e.g., MLS All-Star)
    • Manage tracking internal project timelines
    • Serve as a core internal stakeholder, bringing together different groups within the League to support cross-functional planning for MLS Big Events and other platforms
    • Manage presentation development to support platform conversations, leveraged both internally and externally
    • Accompany executives to internal and external platform presentations
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned


    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 3+ years of experience in sports marketing or brand marketing

    Required Skills

    • Expert PowerPoint skills
    • Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail
    • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment with minimal supervision
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
    • Excellent Word, Excel, and Outlook ability
    • Ability to translate strategic concepts to presentations, overview reports, etc.
    • Proficiency with creative development platforms (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign)
    • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills

     Desired Skills

    • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
    • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
    • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
