  • Overview

    The Manager, Youth Development will serve two department needs:

    • Actively manage the League’s Academy affiliate ecosystem
    • Support the League’s partnership with adidas as the department’s key liaison with Events (Generation adidas Cup), Consumer Products (adidas compliance) and Partnership Marketing (adidas youth affiliate programming)

    Responsibilities

    • Actively manage the MLS Academy ecosystem of amateur club affiliations and partners
    • In conjunction with Partnership Marketing, co-lead the development and launch of the adidas youth affiliate program
    • Oversee MLS Club compliance with adidas alliance agreement (for MLS, USL and youth presence)
    • Serve as key department stakeholder for all MLS Academy Marketing and Consumer Products-related matters (e.g., advance notice of player signings, shoe/apparel category management, player marketing rights tracking, etc.)
    • Project manage and elevate profile of Generation adidas Cup, including managing all third-party event service providers
    • Assist in management of day-to-day relationship with MLS Club Academy staff
    • Assist in preparation and execution of technical committee and league meetings
    • Assist in preparation for League Events (e.g., MLS Player Combine, MLS SuperDraft, MLS All-Star Week and MLS Cup)
    • Ability to be available, travel and work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 5+ years of applicable project management experience
    • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
    • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
    • High level of commitment to quality work product, organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Deep knowledge and interest in Major League Soccer, our clubs, players and rules
    • Strong PowerPoint and presentation-building skills and familiarity with visual-design concepts
    • Ability to make timely, nuanced recommendations for business decisions and the strategic objectives of the organization
    • Understanding of player valuation principles, from sports industry or otherwise
    • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
    • Strong leadership skills and background in coaching education preferred
