  • Overview

    The Senior Coordinator, Social Responsibility will support the implementation of MLS WORKS initiatives that target key social issues, raise visibility of the League, its clubs and players, and help drive value to the enterprise.  The ideal candidate should have strong executional skills, possess creative thinking to add value in program concepting, have experience with digital, experiential and cause related programs, be able to think strategically and work collaboratively across various departments within an organization.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the day-to-day execution of MLS WORKS initiatives that target key social issues, increase local relevancy and enhance the MLS and MLS WORKS brand
    • Support fulfillment of MLS WORKS strategic partnerships (charitable and corporate partners) including but not limited to program elements, hospitality, travel logistics and recaps
    • Coordinate and execute marketing and promotional elements around national programs, campaigns and events including the following marketing channels; digital/social, broadcast, in-stadium communication and print deliverables. Integrate social media content development as a key facet of all marketing and promotional planning
    • Work closely with community relations staff at all 24 MLS clubs, serving as a resource to support the implementation of MLS WORKS strategic plans and strengthen CSR efforts throughout local markets
    • Coordinate logistics for campaigns and promotions to raise awareness and/or funds for MLS WORKS charitable partners
    • Support the social responsibility department by maintaining schedule of events, program metrics, photo and video archive and memorabilia inventory
    • Coordinate recap presentations associated with national programs
    • Manage the process of internal and external donation requests, fulfillment and inventory
    • Support other MLS WORKS projects, as requested
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 3+ years of experience
    • Social Responsibility/community outreach preferred, but not required
    • Understanding of sports and entertainment sponsorships, including promotions, events, media, contracts and client services
    • Understanding of brand awareness and positioning, fan engagement and partnership marketing
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, problem solve and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Proactive and results driven
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
    • Knowledge of social media platforms and basic website navigation
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
    • Possess a positive “whatever it takes to get the job done” attitude
    • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
    • Passion for Social Responsibility
    • Sports experience
    • Knowledge of the sport and entertainment industry – soccer specific knowledge a plus
    • Knowledge of the Spanish or French Language (business proficiency)
