    The Production and Asset Manager will sit within MLS Creative Services. The Creative department is an in-house team – part of the Brand & Integrated Marketing Department that services all internal constituents of the League, including Clubs and Soccer United Marketing, the commercial and operational branch of MLS representing soccer-related properties. Production and Asset Manager is responsible for facilitating the creative request process and maintaining the creative assets on the Digital Asset Management system of MLS.  Candidate should have strong communication and management skills, a robust understanding of graphic design production for both digital and print, as well as structure and functionalities of a DAM platform.  Position requires working with both internal and external clients, and there is frequent interaction with other functional departments (e.g. Marketing, Communications, Events, Community Relations). 

    Responsibilities

    • Primary Responsibilities for Production:
      • Gather needed information to complete and process creative requests
      • Educate stakeholders in Creative Services requirements and processes
      • Assist in processing proofs
      • Prepare files for production to conform to technical specs and production methods
      • Manage file trafficking and delivery
      • Manage logistics and timelines, and cultivate relationships with key vendors, stakeholders and external creative agencies
      • Manage creation and delivery of design toolkits for major platforms
    • Primary Responsibilities for Management of Assets:
      • Establish and maintain file naming conventions and metadata standards across the entire organization and within multiple digital asset categories
      • Oversee daily maintenance and usability of Digital Asset Management (DAM) system
      • Perform and supervise others in tagging and uploading of assets in DAM system (Phase 1: logos, toolkits, and style guides available to staff, partners, and vendors)
      • Change how we catalog and access photos as an enterprise (Phase 2: building a photo library within the DAM system; incorporating Club content and access)
      • Assist with onboarding and training in DAM system
      • Work with IT and consultants to document and address bugs and feature improvements
    • Manage hiring and onboarding process by interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees
    • Accomplish team results by communicating job expectations and managing the Performance Management process:
      • Plan, monitor, and review performance;
      • Coach and counsel employees;
      • Develop and implement department procedures and productivity standards and reinforce Company policies
    • Develop personal growth opportunities for employees
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 5+ years of experience in Design Production and Asset Management
    • Design & Production Skills:
      • Knowledge and understanding of design concepts and techniques, as well as brand worlds and systems
      • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)
      • Proficiency in preparation of files for production (output, parameters, file formats)
      • Ability to supervise print work with vendors
    • Asset Management skills:
      • Knowledge and understanding of taxonomy, tags and metatags, and how to improve indexation for more efficient searches
      • Ability to recommend a structure for categorizing files and processes on how to build them
      • Familiarity with Adobe AEM and DAM or a similar system
      • Knowledge of all graphic formats, their roles and particularities
    • Superior organization and attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Strong interpersonal skills: effective communicator, both written and verbal with other departments and stakeholders
    • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
    • Good problem solving and decision-making skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

    • Knowledge of design in sports (range of applications, technical requirements)
    • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
    • Experience in sports, pop-culture, entertainment environment
    • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
    • Knowledge of the sport of soccer and of MLS
    • Knowledge of Workfront project management system
    • Knowledge of ProofHQ/Workfront Proof review/approval tool

    Major League Soccer is the top-flight professional soccer league in the United States and Canada and began play in 1996, shortly after the U.S. hosted the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Now in its 24th season in 2019, MLS continues to grow at an explosive rate, as the league features record-breaking attendance and consumption, an influx of dynamic players and 20 soccer stadiums. MLS has doubled in size during the past decade and now has 27 clubs, including future teams in Miami, Nashville and Austin that will begin play in the next few years. One more expansion team will be added in the coming years, elevating MLS to 28 clubs.
