    Driven by the continued growth and success of soccer in North America, MLS is expanding operations for the league in Canada. MLS is seeking a results-driven individual to lead the commercial management of our league in Canada. Our ideal candidate shares our vision, is a self-motivated team member and possesses the ability to establish positive trends, build relationships and deliver results.

    This role is expected to lead business development efforts in Canada, primarily focused on Major League Soccer, which continues to grow its influence in the domestic and international sports community. In addition to securing new marketing partnerships for the League, this position will be responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders to help drive the commercial growth of clubs, media partners and other SUM properties.

    Responsibilities

    • Meet or exceed annual revenue goals for MLS Canada, as well as Soccer United Marketing properties where applicable
    • Collaborate with counterparts based at Major League Soccer headquarters in New York, to close new business and achieve collective goals
    • Develop relationships with national brand decision-makers that lead to long-term partnerships supporting the other strategic priorities for the League and greater SUM enterprise
    • Develop strategic sales presentations and tailored business solutions to senior-level executives at prospective clients and agencies, while incorporating media, integrated platforms and other benefits into such opportunities
    • Negotiate sponsorship deals from conversation inception to final contract
    • Maintain connectivity and oversight of MLS Canada commercial business and management of commercial sponsors
    • Lead the building of partner insights and networks to grow MLS influence and corporate partnerships
    • Work collaboratively with New York office to identify and build MLS Big Event platforms in Canada
    • Work with broadcasters and their creative teams to ensure buy-in prior to engaging Tier I Corporate partners
    • Work with Canadian sports marketing agencies to maximize exposure with Tier I Corporate partners

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree (MBA Preferred)
    • 8+ years of experience in Sales and Sponsorship

    Required Skills

    • Self-starter and team player with the ability to work against both aggressive individual and department goals
    • Ability to take a client through the entire sales funnel, from lead generation to closing
    • Possess existing brand contacts at national level and agency relationships
    • Ability to navigate and collaborate with counterparts in other functional areas including Partnership Marketing, Property and Commercial Development, Integrated Media, Legal, etc.
    • Strong business, presentation and negotiating skills
    • Excellent organization, project management skills and attention to detail
    • High level of commitment to quality work, organizational ethics and integrity

    • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

    Desired Skills

    • Knowledge of the French Language (business proficiency)
    • Outstanding PPT skills and command of visual design and storytelling principles
    • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
