The Senior Coordinator, Sports Communications handles soccer information activities for Major League Soccer and Soccer United Marketing.


  • Oversee soccer-related information flow for the Communications group including the following:
    • Manage creation, editing and distribution of appropriate press releases and informational documents
    • Contribute weekly sports storylines and craft pitches that positively position MLS
    • Manage updating of MLS media website (
    • Develop talking points for and serve as communications liaison to MLS Competition Department and the Professional Referee Organization (PRO)
  • Build relationships with and service soccer reporters
  • Organize and maintain photography and videography assets in a central repository
  • Manage weekly video content (securing and distribution of) by liaising with MLS clubs, as well as manage relationship with video content third-party vendor
  • Serve as one of the League’s main contacts with team public relations departments
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships with MLS Events, Operations, Player Personnel, Competition departments, and PRO to stay informed on new initiatives, program and other organization wide events.
  •  In conjunction with Sr. Manager, Communications, monitor all clubs’ adherence to MLS Media Access guidelines
  • Oversee upkeep of media email distribution lists
  • Oversee upkeep of Master Media List and coordinate mass mailings (MLS is Back, All-Star, MLS Cup, other)
  • Monitor assigned MLS matches on weekday and weekend nights
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

  • Superior organization and project management skills with ability to meet deadlines under minimal supervision
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Must have a positive approach and team building spirit
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Expertise with Social Media platforms
  • Knowledge of and passion for Major League Soccer 
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Proficient in social media engagement
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
  • Knowledge and experience in sports business
  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or French is a plus
