Major League Soccer is the top-flight men’s professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. We aspire to be one of the top leagues in the world, as defined by our quality of play, the passion of our fans, the relevance of our clubs and the value of our enterprise.  In 2023, the league will be comprised of 29 clubs, with ongoing plans to expand to 30 clubs.


The growth of our business and fan base happens at both national and local levels. To drive collaboration, best practices, innovation and league-wide growth, Major League Soccer is building a Club Services Department. Based in New York, the department will serve as an in-house advisory group and resource that will work in close partnership with club leadership in areas of business operations, including ticketing, sponsorship, media, content, marketing, business intelligence and fan development.


Major League Soccer is looking for a Senior Vice President, Club Services to lead the development and management of the new department. This role will work closely with club Chief Business Officers to assess overall opportunities and needs.  The SVP will also liaise with internal departments at the League Office, building a matrixed organization, to deliver best-in-class support and guidance to clubs.


This person will strengthen collaboration, planning and connectivity between the League Office and clubs, build processes and resource to guide and support best-in-class operations, and work to identify centralized innovations and solutions. They will also work with internal MLS departments to track and communicate club performance against benchmarks and applicable requirements.


The Senior Vice President will contribute to the future of Major League Soccer and its member clubs, staying ahead of industry trends, new technologies, and fan engagement opportunities.  This person will work to represent the views of club leaders and be responsive, thoughtful, and highly attuned to providing value.



  • Develop a multi-year department plan in collaboration with League Office and club leadership.
  • Alongside EVP, serve as a primary League Office point-of-contact for club Chief Business Officers on commercial and business matters.
  • Work with League Office stakeholders to establish and standardize annual planning and review process between League Office and clubs.
  • Work with League Office stakeholders and external agencies to expand available research, data and overall resource to support an insights-based approach to departmental work.
  • Work with League Office stakeholders to standardize reporting, metrics, and benchmarks to assess MLS clubs’ business operations.
  • Establish in-house advisory group capable of diagnostics, identifying opportunities, and authoring action plans.
  • Identify and document best practices across Major League Soccer and other industries for dissemination.
  • Identify innovations that can provide collective value with a centralized approach.
  • Problem-solve day-to-day issues facing club leaders; devise and communicate recommendations on handling business operations challenges.
  • Make in-market Club visits, as needed, to develop relationships with clubs, assess needs, advise on priorities, and ensure effective and expeditious implementation of best practices and action plans.
  • Develop a calendar of meetings / conferences / summits designed to information-share, plan and collaborate.
  • Build and manage a team of full-time employees and external consultants, working towards established department and individual staff targets.



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA Preferred
  • 15+ years of leadership experience in the sports and entertainment industry, with experience operating professional teams/clubs in leadership roles.
  • Experience in consultative and marketing leadership positions, working closely with consumer data, trends, and behavioral analysis.


Required Skills:

  • Strong executive presence with experience working directly with C-Level Executives
  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess strategic and innovative mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to direct multiple team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge in areas of sponsorship, ticketing, media, content, business intelligence and fan development.
  • Strong data and analytical capabilities, with the ability to identify insights and supported recommendations.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international soccer industry preferred.
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to interact effectively in a professional and diplomatic manner with internal and external clients at all levels.
  • The ability to coach and develop staff at all levels, both direct reports and staff on project teams.
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, compliance, promptness, and timeliness.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point.
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
  • English fluency required. Fluency or proficiency in Spanish and/or French preferred.
