As the Manager, Player Engagement, you will manage multiple programs that service player outreach and training initiatives. You will assist the Senior Director of Player Engagement in the performance of a variety of professional and administrative duties to support the day-to-day operations and administration of the department.  


In this position you will need to exercise discretion and independent judgment in resolving issues with players, Clubs, and administrative staff. You will also handle departmental matters, manage special projects and programs associated with the League, Clubs, MLSPA, and other external constituents.  



Primary Responsibilities

  • Administers key career development programs (e.g. League Access Program, Careers in Soccer Summit, etc.) and their execution. 
  • Manages a portfolio of MLS clubs and players to provide support and best practices as needed. 
  • Design educational curriculums and initiatives for respective programs 
  • Creates and maintains departmental website and content 
  • Provides administrative and operational support to the Player Engagement department. 
  • Develops promotional materials for program events as well as forms and applications for respective programs. 
  • Assist with the administration of player marketing efforts at MLS tentpole, partner, and affiliate events. 
  • Coordinates the programming needs of the department.  
  • Organizes the planning, development, and logistics of seminars, symposiums, special events, and trainings for various constituent groups. 
  • Interfaces with other departments and affiliates on designated projects. 
  • Researches and analyzes information to identify and implement best practices and strategic integration of programming needs. 
  • Solicits and establishes a list of local and national resources to support the player engagement department. 
  • Serves as liaison with internal and external constituents (e.g., corporate partners, Clubs, etc.), and work with soccer affiliates (e.g., MLSPA, NCAA, etc.) on programs and initiatives 
  • Maintains a database of projects (i.e. calendars, seminars, participants, consultants, customer relations, and programs). 


Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of the educational partnerships 
  • Represents the organization at meetings, social functions, etc. 
  • Assist with strategic planning, operations, budget, contracts, and analytical research. 
  • Actively engages in professional development as an industry professional  
  • Manage CRM and player communications for active and former players 
  • Serves as primary point of contact with the Player Review Board 



Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in sports

  • Ability to remain strictly confidential with the business of establishing trusting relationships with front office personnel, players, coaches, administrators, and other professional and collegiate sports affiliates 
  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail 
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment  
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally 
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills 
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision 
  • Motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic in approaching tasks and endeavors 
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays 


Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer  
  • Experience as a collegiate and/or professional athlete
