Overview

Major League Soccer is looking for an experienced professional to help build and scale our player applications & systems. As part of the Technology team, this position will provide technology management and expertise in collaboration with the League's Player Department. The selected candidate will report to the VP, Enterprise Applications & Services and will act as the single point of contact for all technical needs supporting our player solutions. This person will analyze processes & requirements related to our player operations and support the development of a comprehensive technology roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the strategy, selection, and implementations of player products and services
  • Supports, defines, and determines strategic business solutions
  • Encourages creative thinking in employees and finds ways to nurture innovative thinking across all areas of the company
  • Formulates effective new ideas and innovative strategies for business opportunities
  • Responsible for implementation, configuration, and support of player applications & systems at Major League Soccer
  • Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive technology roadmap, applicable to our player solutions & processes.
  • Provide technical direction and support on our player contract management solutions
  • Support the development of our player management systems including management of player data and reporting
  • Ensure player solutions are fully integrated with our existing technology stack and are managed utilizing organizational process.
  • Provide technical oversight and governance on the use of player data throughout our enterprise.
  • Manage system integrations with both internal and external solutions providers
  • Develop and enhance digital workflows across the player department while interacting with other business units throughout the league
  • Manage external vendors and developers to support our application requirements
  • Ensure information security concepts are being applied to the handling and managing of sensitive data
  • Provide application training to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Create and maintain all technical documentation related to players' systems, processes, and workflows
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or related field
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience working with data & process-driven applications as part of the technology organization
  • 5+ years of experience with application development and project management
  • Good organizational and communication skills, written and oral, able to create and present well-organized presentations
  • Candidates should have experience managing projects via project management platforms and methodologies
  • Background in managing PII and Financial data
  • Ability to deliver highly technical information in a business-friendly manner to encourage adoption
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Demonstrated decision making, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Previous experience working in sports
  • Experience working with Workday products
  • Experience working with Asana or JIRA
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
