Overview

The Partner Media Management team manages the commercialization strategy and execution of media sponsorship and advertising efforts for MLS & SUM properties. As a department, PMM plays an important role in helping the larger MLS/SUM organization to articulate the value proposition of assets across owned, operated, and distributed media channels to both internal and external stakeholders, ultimately driving value for the enterprise, official marketing partners, and media partners.

 

The Director, Partner Media Management will work across functions and divisions to ensure the seamless development and execution of media sponsorship and advertising programs. From standard turn-key digital/social media executions across owned and operated channels, to content development and branded entertainment positions crafted for our most noteworthy official marketing partners, the Director will be responsible for a wide range of activation. Campaign assets will run across a variety of touch points, including Apple’s digital ecosystem, owned & operated mobile, app, and social media channels, plus emerging platforms. Although this function will focus mainly on MLS digital media sponsorships, it is incumbent upon this resource to partner with the sales marketing teams at Apple, our traditional broadcast partner networks, and content partners to support sponsored MLS brand positions where appropriate.   

Responsibilities

  • Act as program manager overseeing the development and packaging for MLS owned and operated digital sponsorship opportunities
  • Act as project manager developing sponsorship briefs/timelines and overseeing launch/maintenance of sold digital sponsorships, programs, and activations
  • As the media expert, assist the Partnership Marketing and Brand Alliance teams in communication to corporate partner media clients and media buying agencies
  • Collaborate with Partnership Marketing and Media Solutions operations team on key campaign metrics and program performance, creating campaign & platform recaps and reporting
  • Understand and articulate our media narrative to deliver maximum value for client investments across our owned, operated, and distributed media assets
  • Direct management of a Manager and Sr. Coordinator who work across MLS NEXT, Leagues Cup, Concacaf and FMF properties
  • Work with third party partners on content and advertising opportunities for MLS partners
  • Represent media opportunities and manage media elements for MLS big events, i.e. All-Star, Playoffs
  • Various projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President
  • Manage hiring and onboarding process by interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Accomplish team results by communicating job expectations and managing the Performance Management process:
    • Plan, monitor, and review performance;
    • Coach and counsel employees;
    • Develop and implement department procedures and productivity standards and reinforce Company policies
  • Develop personal growth opportunities for employees  

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in integrated media, sales and/or marketing

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of the digital media sponsorship and advertising space (including social media platforms and opportunities within)
  • Knowledge of linear broadcast, OTT, CTV, and streaming services
  • Experience working across multiple constituent internal and external groups
  • Tireless work ethic, willingness to roll up sleeves to drive and lead a commitment to excellence
  • Superior organization and project management skills with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multifaceted organization
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to travel for client meetings and MLS events as needed
