Overview

The Manager, Brand Alliances is expected to be a key member of the enterprise’s new business efforts across Soccer United Marketing (SUM) properties including, but not limited to Major League Soccer (MLS), Leagues Cup, U.S. Soccer Federation, Mexican National Team, and CONCACAF.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed annual revenue goals for the Brand Alliances team responsibilities across all SUM properties with a focus on Leagues Cup and a variety of platforms (sponsorship, digital, broadcast, etc.).
  • Take a team sales approach and collaborate with department counterparts to close new business to achieve both individual and collective goals
  • Develop deep, meaningful relationships with national decision makers at brands that lead to long-term partnerships
  • Collaborate with teams that impact the business of MLS’ Clubs, media partners and other properties
  • Build and deliver strategic sales presentations catered to senior-level executives at prospective clients and agencies
  • Negotiate sponsorship deals with support from management
  • Provide mentorship to a supporting member of the team
  • Understand company dynamics and in-house capabilities to uncover integrated opportunities that also benefit other departments of the company
  • Develop a deep understanding of the domestic and international soccer landscape to aid in the sales process
  • Support Brand Alliances management in other business-related efforts
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience selling complex, integrated marketing rights and media platforms, preferably in the sports/entertainment industry

  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales goals
  • Ability to take a client through the entire sales funnel, from lead generation to closing
  • Existing “decision maker” brand contacts at national level and agency relationships
  • Ability to navigate and collaborate with counterparts in other functional areas
  • Self-starter and team player with the ability to work against both aggressive individual and department sales goals
  • Superior business and negotiating skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • High-level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer, and specifically MLS
