Sr. Counsel, Legal, Business Affairs

 

This position will primarily support Major League Soccer’s media, productions and content distribution teams, including supporting MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain legal contract templates, including for production agreements, content licensing agreements. talent agreements and local/radio broadcast agreements.
  • Assist (under supervision of MLS attorneys) with preparation, distribution and execution of high volume of legal documents based on contract templates.
  • Review MLS produced content to evaluate compliance with content guidelines established by the League and its partners.
  • Prepare contract redlines, analysis, summaries and charts.
  • Track status of pending and completed agreements and maintain contracts database.
  • Create training materials and PowerPoint training decks for MLS and Club attorneys.
  • Perform special projects and other assignments.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience at law firm and/or corporate legal department
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Paralegal certificate (or similar credential)

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with outstanding organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to proofread material for grammatical or spelling errors
  • Sound business judgement, and flexibility/adaptability to prioritize, organize, manage and complete time sensitive matters without sacrificing accuracy
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

 

Desired Skills

  • Spanish and/or French language skills (business proficiency)
  • Experience with media, production and content distribution
  • Knowledge and interest in the sport of soccer

 

 

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary $65,000 - $75,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
