Overview

The MLS Consumer Products team drives fan engagement and revenue through licensed products sales and marketing while supporting on-field equipment needs.  We are seeking a Manager, Marketing Operations to develop and drive cross-functional programs with internal and external partners amplifying department efforts across Events, Special Programs and product releases. The candidate will work closely with key team members within Consumer Products while partnering with other departments on integration opportunities across Events, Community Relations, Partnership Marketing and Brand Marketing. This highly collaborative role will also work with MLS Clubs to understand and aid in the amplification of Club-led initiatives involving opportunities to incorporate consumer products to drive messaging, fan engagement and revenue.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Integration: serve as Consumer Products liaison across various MLS departments staying current on all planned programs and identifying opportunities for Consumer Products integration and maintain work process flow by coordinating information with related departments and creating and maintaining content calendar and documentation.
  • National Premium Partnership and Development: Manage National Premium partner relationships (currently 4 partners) – serve as day-to-day contact to these partners; develop and manage integrated approach to premium products across the enterprise to ensure cohesive messaging at key moments and events; oversee all invoices from premium partners to make sure that they are correct and paid on-time.
  • Gifting: Work with National Premiums partners and SUM departments to determine and manage gifting needs for key moments throughout the calendar; seek innovative gifting ideas across varying price points and experience
  • Consumer Products Events and Hospitality: Manage Consumer Products guest experience at all MLS / SUM events and key matches including invite process, on-site hospitality, seating, gifting and meetings.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of work experience in consumer products marketing, operations, or retail.

 

Required Skills

  • Understanding of product trends and business drivers in licensing and sports culture, including key players, aspirational and accessible products, and retail landscape.
  • Analytical skillset and data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Ability to operate and communicate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Strong written and slide development presentation skills for clear communication.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to interact with both MLS partners and MLS senior leadership.
  • Attention to detail, especially when multi-tasking across various projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable juggling multiple projects, prioritizing stakeholder needs, and working under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel (10-20%) and to work occasional non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

 

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency) a plus
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer a plus

 

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary $75,000 - $85,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
