The Events Team at Major League Soccer (“MLS”) plans, builds and aligns the enterprise on all MLS Events and key moments in the annual MLS calendar, including MLS SuperDraft, MLS is Back, MLS All-Star, Skills Challenge, Rivalry Week, MLS Decision Day, MLS Cup Playoffs, MLS Cup and more. The individual will develop and lead the strategic, long-term and integrated plans of our most visible moments as a League. The Sr. Director will also build Standard Operating Procedures for event production and will help to prepare all communications to executive team on MLS events. Integral in setting up the Events team for long term and sustainable success, this individual will partner closely with the SVP & Chief Events Officer and the Events team to build a best-in-class operating model for MLS Events that can be scaled to allow for department evolution, in line with League expansion and other growth opportunities.

• Lead the planning of MLS Events and League platforms (e.g., MLS SuperDraft, MLS is Back, MLS All-Star, Skills Challenge, Rivalry Week, MLS Decision Day, MLS Cup Playoffs, and MLS Cup), aligning internal team members through goal setting, development, and delivery phases.
• For MLS Event development:
• Develop and Implement 12+ month planning and project timelines.
• Lead and oversee internal communication and status of progress-tracking across projects and departments.
• Liaise with Brand Marketing, Communications, Apple Partnership, Content, Production, Social etc. to build promotional and communications plans internally and externally.
• Schedule and lead regular development and status meetings.
• Lead development of presentation materials and decks for internal constituents and external partners.
• Support the development of sponsorship platforms, including supporting the creation of pitch presentations.
• Partner with Business Intelligence Team to align objectives and identify post-event insights, using findings to inform decision-making and future planning.
• Lead all aspects of post event/platform recap process and development of internal and external debrief presentations.
• Champion creativity and big thinking to re-imagine and innovate on event platforms.
• Ability to create a compelling narrative to communicate and sell event concepts external partners.
• Develop materials such as executive level PowerPoint Presentations to facilitate budget proposals, quarterly business reviews, RFP’s and post event debriefs for MLS Events.
• Serve as internal authority on all MLS Events and present opportunities and project updates when requested to internal leadership and external constituents.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 10+ years of business strategy, marketing, or sponsorship experience.

• Understanding of visual design principles and applying them to presentation materials.
• Outstanding PowerPoint skills to craft different types of presentation narratives.

• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Consumer Research Tools

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary $145,000 - $185,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
