Major League Soccer’s Strategy and Business Intelligence group is tasked with supporting strategic decision making and resource allocation across the League – with a focus on driving fan growth, revenue capture, and operating efficiencies – by providing impactful data driven insights, analysis, and recommendations.  We are seeking a Vice President who will bring a consultative approach to driving League strategy and planning, leading projects end-to-end and actively interfacing with senior leaders across the enterprise.  This individual will bring collaborative energy, a desire to build, and thought leadership to the team. 

• Drive League office strategy and planning, working with business units to evaluate return on investment opportunities, developing strategies & initiatives to achieve key objectives, and developing business cases for investment
• Lead MLS’ long-term planning process, project managing the development of a holistic strategic roadmap for the League through World Cup 2026
• Lead the League’s annual planning process, including organizational priorities, goal setting, resource allocation evaluation and communication materials
• Spearhead ad hoc strategic projects (e.g., operational efficiency studies, new initiative assessments), and support the formulation of new platform business plans
• Manage League office cross-functional workstreams to support departments in the development of coordinated and effective business plans
• Oversee the preparation of presentations, recaps and other materials needed to manage and communicate insights and strategic recommendations to key stakeholders, including Executives, Owner Committees, and Clubs etc.
• Partner with Business Intelligence groups to identify key research needs & analysis required to drive strategic decision making, including scoping of qualitative / quantitative data projects
• Collaborate with key internal team members and external resources to develop new growth platforms – including identifying macro trends, scoping needs, developing strategic framework, creating implementation plans, timelines, deliverables, etc.
• Maintain strong understanding of League & Club metrics to develop key strategies & initiatives that achieve long-term and annual goals

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree
• 12+ years of work experience, with 10+ in either an in-house or external strategy function

• Advanced PowerPoint and Excel (e.g., full presentation development, exceptional financial modeling skills)

• Experience at a management consulting firm
• Experience in the sports industry
• MBA or other relevant advanced degree
• Knowledge of the sport of soccer

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary: $200,000 – $250,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
