Overview

Contract Length:

  • Seasonal with the eligibility for renewal (7 - 11 months)

Work Location:

  • Arlington, TX

Responsibilities

  • Communication with Venue Medical Director (VMD) regarding potential head injuries.
  • Assisting in the concussion protocol process by providing additional information to Club medical staff through written communication and clipped videos.
  • Be available for a minimum of 40 matches per season.
  • Alert supervisor of any potential injury that requires medical attention.
  • Fill out post-match form for each clipped video/incident or match if no clips were needed.
  • Recognize visual signs of potential head injuries as outlined by MLS.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends based on game day schedules.            

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from an accredited CAATE athletic training education program.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a certified athletic trainer (ATC) or sports medicine experience with equivalent or higher education.
  • Current NATABOC certification.
  • Current state licensure in practicing state.

Required Skills

  • Understanding of head injuries and management.
  • Recognition of on-field evaluations.
  • Ability to clearly communicate written or verbal as it pertains to the observed visual signs of the MLS Spotter program.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Excellent note taking. 

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of rules regarding medical for the sport of soccer.
  • Knowledge of soccer competition rules.
  • Previous experience communicating with medical doctors (MD) and doctor of osteopathy (DO).
  • Knowledge of 8by8, HeadCheck Health, SmartSheets, Slack Excel, and other software programs.
