Overview

This position will primarily support the League’s data privacy compliance and business ventures initiatives, and work closely with the data strategy and IT departments within Major League Soccer, Soccer United Marketing and their related properties.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of IT and privacy-related agreements, including professional services agreements, SaaS agreements, data protection addendums, and cloud agreements, as well as data, content, and software license agreements.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to business teams regarding data collection and processing and privacy compliance.
  • Providing strategic and practical advice on business initiatives that have data privacy and data protection implications.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (as needed) and compliance monitoring of current data processes, procedures and frameworks; assess and implement solutions to new and existing data privacy regulatory developments.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable data privacy laws and regulations; monitor and track privacy and security laws, rules, regulations and trends.
  • Provide revisions as needed to data privacy policies, procedures and agreements.
  • Create and deliver trainings that highlight and deliver awareness and understanding of critical data privacy obligations and compliance.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years at a leading law firm and/or corporate legal department with relevant experience; minimum of 2 years of experience in data privacy and network security
  • Bachelor’s Degree and JD
  • Admission to the NY State Bar

Required Skills

  • Outstanding written and oral business communication skills
  • Strong drafting and negotiating skills
  • Experience with commercial transactions.
  • Experience providing data privacy compliance guidance to large, multi-faceted organization
  • Understanding of data activation and data driven marketing
  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail, necessary to support and advise business units and ensure projects are completed in a timely and effective manner
  • Ability to make timely, nuanced recommendations for business decisions based on reasoned legal analysis and the strategic objectives of the organization
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to creative effective, business-friendly training materials.
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment with a business-focused approach

 Preferred Qualification

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional desired

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary $130,000 - $150,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
