Overview

The Sr. Coordinator, Social Media is responsible for helping position Major League Soccer as the most engaging and innovative sports brand in social media. This position will produce content with MLS photo, video, and editorial teams, and decide how to distribute on @MLS social media channels to help achieve our objectives.. As a key player in helping grow the MLS fan base — from the MLS club level to the league level — and supporting all elements of the MLS ecosystem, including our partnership with Apple TV, the Sr. Coordinator will help manage the process in which we create and publish content during the week and on matchdays.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, create and post content for MLS social media platforms, with an emphasis on TikTok, on weekdays, evenings and weekends (game, big event, and desk coverage required).
  • Collaborate on the content calendar and day-to-day publishing of social content in MLS tone & voice.
  • Provide and manage live match coverage on weeknights and weekends.
  • Support studio content and studio talent content, including traveling to MLS Studio.
  • Manage and implement programming around key events including but not limited to MLS All-Star, Decision Day, and MLS Cup, while working cross-departmentally to ensure all organizational and objectives are met.
  • Collaborate across the enterprise on strategies that leverage players, partners, influencers, and/or celebrities to achieve enterprise-wide metrics.
  • Managed administrative tasks for social team, including but not limited to file management, invoice processing and tracking social accounts.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of experience, with 2+ years of experience in Social Media, Marketing, or Sports.

 

Required Skills

  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Prior corporate experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Proficiency in short-form video content, specifically TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
  • Prior experience managing team or league handles for soccer and/or sports team
  • Knowledge of soccer, MLS clubs, the U.S. Men’s National Team and Canada Men’s National Team
  • Passion for and experience in social media marketing, with strong understanding of trends and standard methodologies
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite (or other video and photo editing platforms)
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal direction
  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)

 

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency in graphic design and photoshop

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary: $62,500 - $68,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
