Overview

The Director, Production Management is a dedicated resource, with production management expertise, to help put structure, discipline, and process against production and budget management, including coordination with IMG and NEP on production schedules to mitigate OT, management of any/all overage requests or change orders, and regular reporting of expenses and projections.

 

Major League Soccer is the top-flight men’s professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. We aspire to be one of the top leagues in the world, as defined by our quality of play, the passion of our fans, the relevance of our clubs and the value of our enterprise. In 2023, the league will be comprised of 29 clubs, with ongoing plans to expand to 30 clubs, will play the new and annual Leagues Cup tournament, and launched its worldwide streaming and marketing partnership with Apple.

 

Major League Soccer’s historic Apple partnership will allow fans to stream every MLS match through the Apple TV app worldwide. The new streaming service will also feature MLS NEXT, MLS NEXT Pro and Leagues Cup matches, alongside a rich offering of League, Tournament and Club content.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in management of operations of studio/remote productions to ensure that quality standards are achieved, and budget goals are being met.
  • Clearly defines all workflows, communicates documented processes, and ensures all practices are being refined and tuned with learnings.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and outside vendors to develop overall production schedules, materials, and resource requirements to meet short and long-term production goals. 
  • Identify and resolve production issues, develop process improvements, and best practices.
  • Develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the production infrastructure. 
  • Monitors and adheres to production budgets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Resolve any production-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Anticipates bottlenecks, clarifies project priorities, identifies risks, and escalates issues that need to be resolved. 
  • Provides regular status reports with the team and with vendor production management.
  • Build partnerships with internal groups to foster, manage, and enhance relationships with the Finance department.
  • Collaborate with Finance to develop creative solutions that are in line with MLS expectations/policies while satisfying the creative needs.
  • Partner with Finance teams in reporting, adjusting EFCs, building cash flows, and actualizing special projects and development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience

 

Required Skills

  • Possesses established expertise in creating and producing compelling sports productions, with the ability to generate and implement remote sports and in studio production concepts, from inception to execution.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the intricacies of remote sports and in studio production processes and the capacity to produce high-quality sports news shows.
  • Maintains current knowledge of technological advancements relevant to remote sports productions.
  • High-level of commitment to a quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)

 

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary: $115,000 – $140,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
