Overview

The Enterprise Risk Senior Director will lead the identification, measurement and management of company-wide risk, manage insurance procurement, develop and implement risk management policies/procedures and manage claims covered under the League’s insurance program.  This individual contributor will be a subject matter expert, functioning as a service leader who can successfully influence, build and manage relationships across all levels internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, procure and administer comprehensive League-wide insurance program
    • Identify and measure all forms of risk, including legal, operational, financial, compliance and business risk in addition to insurable and hazard risk
    • Conduct functional and integrated risk assessments to ensure enterprise risks are identified, evaluated, and managed
    • Work closely with broker and insurance market to manage procurement of all insurance, including Casualty, Property and Financial Lines programs, with an emphasis on the League’s Workers Compensation program
    • Monitor industry trends to benchmark pricing and terms of coverage
    • Coordinate site visits for loss mitigation/risk control services
    • Manage certificates of insurance program
  • Litigation/Claims Management
    • Track and manage athlete Workers Compensation program
    • Establish League-wide claims management process, perform deductible reserves analysis, manage outside counsel on insurable claims from inception to final resolution, and update monthly claims/loss ratios
    • Manage claims against third-party insurance carriers as needed
  • Policy Development
    • Provide framework for managing and governing risk and control activities
    • Advise on insurance and indemnification provisions and review high volume of contracts to ensure compliance with best practices
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • D. preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in risk management, claims management and other insurance experience

  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

 

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

 

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary $145,000 -$185,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
