Overview

The Manager, Community Engagement will be responsible for day-to-day fulfillment of Community Engagement initiatives and programs, associated with League corporate partners in the U.S. and Canada, that raise visibility of the League, its clubs and players and help drive value to the enterprise.  This position will align with various cross functional teams to ensure delivery of current contractual assets, integrated marketing campaigns and community impact programs, while serving as point person for CSR related renewal and new business conversations.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to think creatively, work collaboratively across the organization, provide innovative solutions and have experience with digital, experiential and cause related programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage fulfillment of Community Engagement strategic partnerships associated with League corporate partners, including but not limited to program concepting, execution, event budgets, hospitality and recaps; ensure program elements are met and objectives of MLS and any associated corporate partners remain aligned
  • Monitor and report on programming KPIS against benchmarks
  • In conjunction with Partnership Marketing & Business Alliance teams, manage the integration of CSR into the development of new business and/or renewal opportunities including program ideation support and the development of partner presentations on an ongoing basis
  • Support the development and execution of community impact initiatives as part of the League’s partnership with Liga MX, including but not limited to management of program elements, marketing and promotion for community events around Leagues Cup and Campeones Cup
  • Oversee club relationships for specific partner activation needs
  • Manage the creation of program toolkits (web banners, LEDs, PA/videoboard, twitter skins, etc.)
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure community engagement messaging/branding is accurate and appropriately reflected across platforms
  • Support other Community Engagement projects, as requested
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-8+ years of integrated marketing, sports marketing, partnership marketing and/or community engagement experience

 

Required Skills

  • Must be a team player, have a passion for community impact, be self-motivated and results driven, and able to own projects from conception through execution.
  • Experience managing large-scale partnerships and the planning and execution of activation programs
  • Creative strategist with the ability to provide solutions that address client needs
  • Strong understanding of sports and entertainment sponsorships, including promotions, events, media, and contracts
  • Understanding of brand awareness
  • Ability to work well across departments
  • Knowledge of social media and basic website function/navigation
  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

 

Desired Skills

  • Sports experience
  • Basic knowledge of soccer governing bodies – U.S. Soccer Federation, FIFA, CONCACAF, MLS
  • Knowledge of Spanish Language (business proficiency)

 

Total Rewards:

Major League Soccer offers a competitive starting base salary of $75,000 – 82,000, based on individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
