Overview

As a key member of the Premium Content Partnerships team, this position will help drive new revenue opportunities for SUM properties while expanding the reach and visibility of MLS globally. This excellent communicator will build and maintain partnerships with networks, streaming services, digital publishers and production companies to establish strong relationships in the marketplace and ensure MLS is part of the global soccer conversation. In addition, this role will ensure seamless operational oversight of key department functions from creation of sales collateral to asset delivery efficiencies to assisting with bookkeeping. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify strategic content partners and negotiate new digital rights deals domestically and internationally.
  • Oversee footage licensing and access for the league, including receiving requests, negotiating terms and working with internal partners to execute licensing agreements, deliver assets, and obtain necessary creative approvals.
  • Support the ideation and production of new premium feature development opportunities.
  • Maintain and regularly update internal trackers for all active deals and footage licenses (including, but not limited to rights availability and restrictions, deal status, contract expirations, etc.)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (including but not limited to, legal, finance, partnership marketing, operations, social media, content, etc.) to ensure all necessary partners are regularly updated of new content partnerships and premium feature productions.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations for external and internal parties.
  • Assist with Administrative duties as assigned by senior team members.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 7+ years professional experience required, in media rights licensing at an entertainment and/or sports media company

 

Required Skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of Major League Soccer and the sports media landscape
  • Interest and understanding of multiplatform digital content landscape ecosystem, trends, and opportunities
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation and communication skills
  • Familiarity with and understanding of best practices for social media, mobile and video
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • High-level of commitment to a quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Flexible and thrives in a fast-paced environment 
  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint

 

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Major League Soccer offers a competitive starting base salary of $90,000 - $105,000, based on individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
