Overview

The Temporary Director of Club Sponsorships will support the advancement of Club-wide sponsorship revenue initiatives, assist in implementing standards of excellence, and contribute to modernizing the structure of Club sponsorships across the enterprise. This role will work closely with Club sponsorship leads and Chief Revenue Officers to provide insights, develop packaging, and help navigate commercial challenges during the assignment period.

 

This is a temporary position beginning on or about September 2025 through on or about January 1st, 2025 (with potential for extension).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact for approximately 15 Clubs on day-to-day sponsorship matters.
  • Support Clubs by capturing and sharing best practices to maximize sponsorship revenue.
  • Assist in developing short-term business strategies for Clubs in need of immediate support.
  • Gather sponsorship-related insights from Club executives through calls and limited travel, as needed.
  • Maintain a regular cadence of communication with Clubs via audio/video calls.
  • Support the updating of reports on revenue, assets, categories, and Clubs for MLS senior leadership.
  • Help prepare agendas and organize content for monthly U.S. and Canada Club sponsorship calls.
  • Provide support in reviewing select high-value Club sponsorship contracts for compliance with MLS commercial guidelines.
  • Assist in presentations and updates during Club sponsorship calls and meetings.
  • Provide timely updates and ensure alignment with VP, Club Sponsorships.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal MLS stakeholders across departments as needed to support sponsorship initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of executive reports and presentations.
  • Help organize and maintain information systems and databases.
  • Support efforts to streamline workflows and identify quick efficiencies.
  • Conduct research and provide analysis to support ongoing projects.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in Partnership Sales, Partnership Marketing, and/or Business Strategy with a sports team, league, or agency.

Required Skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks within a fast-moving and competing workload.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new commercial sectors.
  • Understanding of each stage of the sponsorship sales process
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to support projects through to completion within defined timelines.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work with integrity and compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Desired Skills

  • Ability to build advanced presentations (Prezi, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer

Total Rewards

Starting compensation $65.00-75.00/hour; 40 hours/week. MLS/SUM compensation is contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
