Overview

This position will support the MLS Legal Department Business Affairs team on a variety of contracting, administration and department management needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain contract templates for content licensing agreements, broadcast talent agreements and other ancillary content/production agreements
  • Coordinate confidentiality agreement process across multiple departments within the organization
  • Oversee subsidiary management, including maintaining corporate books and records and managing state corporate filings
  • Assist (under supervision of MLS attorneys) with templated commercial agreements, including marketing influencer agreements, artist agreements and player appearance agreements
  • Draft and review terms and conditions for League promotions and sweepstakes
  • Support legal department management, including managing law firm engagement letters and coordinating legal invoices
  • Additional responsibilities and special projects, as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience at a top tier law firm and/or corporate legal department
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Paralegal certificate (or similar credential)

Required Skills

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated individual with outstanding organizational and analytical skills
  • Experience with commercial contracts and confidentiality agreements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to proofread material for grammatical or spelling errors
  • Sound business judgement, and flexibility/adaptability to prioritize, organize, manage and complete time sensitive matters without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced, team environment
  • Familiarity with invoicing systems such as Concur; project management systems such as Asana
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Desired Skills

  • Commissioned New York State Notary Public
  • Knowledge and interest in the sport of soccer

Major League Soccer offers a competitive starting base salary of $75,000,-$85-000 based on individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
