Overview

The Staff Videographer will work within the MLS Productions team to execute weekly on-site productions, as well as help craft weekly stories and live elements that bring the culture of MLS, its teams and players to life for soccer audiences. Proficient in filming as a single camera operator and working as part of a small and agile team, this role will bring a multi-skilled approach to producing onsite pregame programming, feature storytelling, and live matchday coverage across multiple platforms each week. The ideal candidate will be a strong visual storyteller, have experience across live and feature production, a keen eye for detail, and a strong understanding of soccer.

Responsibilities

Production Oversight & Assistance:

  • Work closely with producers in planning, pre-production, and execution of on-site pregame shows,
    feature material, and live matchday elements created across the US and Canada throughout the
    season.
  • Serve as a key on-site production contact for Pregame Show booth, overseeing all on-site stage
    elements to ensure creative and technical standards are met.
  • Responsible for prepping on-site pregame shows, including mic’ing talent, checking cameras and
    shots, coordinating stage elements, and overseeing troubleshooting of any on-site production
    issues.
  • Act as a stage manager for Pregame Show, working directly with on-air talent, technical teams, and
    producers to ensure smooth execution of the show.
  • Assist with the coordination of studio and on-location shoots, ensuring all elements meet creative
    and technical standards.
  • Ensure all production equipment is properly maintained and ready for deployment.
    Troubleshoot technical issues quickly during live shows, rehearsals, and on-location shoots.
  • Help manage production timelines and responsibilities to ensure all components are delivered on
    schedule.

 

Camera Operation:

  • Operate cameras for on-site pregame shows, feature content, and live matchday coverage, ensuring
    proper framing, focus, and execution of dynamic shots.
  • Set up and adjust cameras, audio, lighting, and other technical equipment for pregame booths,
    feature shoots, and LiveU deployments.
  • Work closely with producers to align camera work with the overall vision and editorial goals of each
    production.

 

Feature Production:

  • Assist the Features Team in planning, pre-production, and production of feature stories throughout
    the season.
  • Capture visually compelling interviews, b-roll, and storytelling elements that reflect the culture and
    personalities of MLS for incorporation into feature content.
  • Maintain high production standards across all feature content, from visuals to audio.
  • Assist Features Team with edits/postproduction as needed.

 

LiveU & Matchday Coverage:

  • Operate LiveU pack as a remote producer/shooter to capture matchday atmosphere before games,
    both inside and outside stadiums.
  • Provide live visuals and storytelling elements that enhance pregame coverage and connect fans to
    the matchday experience.
  • Coordinate closely with both studio-based producers and on-site producers to execute live shots
    and respond quickly to evolving production needs.
  • Help identify key storylines, locations, and visuals to integrate into pregame shows, features, and
    live coverage.


Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work with editors, graphics teams, technical crews, and on-air talent to ensure seamless integration
    of video, audio, and visual elements.
  • Serve as a bridge between on-air talent and production teams to ensure clarity, consistency, and
    confidence on set.
  • Stay updated on MLS news, teams, and players to contribute meaningfully to production planning
    and respond quickly to changing storylines and circumstances.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3+ years of experience required

 

Required Skills

  • Passion for sports and an understanding of the nuances of live production.
  • The candidate should expect to be in the studio 2-3 days per week along with 2-3 days traveling
    each week throughout the season.
  • Expertise in camera operation, audio setup (including mic’ing talent), and basic lighting.
  • Experience as camera operator across live production and feature storytelling.
  • Technical proficiency with broadcast equipment, LiveU technology, and on-site troubleshooting.
  • Experience stage managing or leading on-site production elements, including working directly with
    on-air talent.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in fast-paced, live
    environments.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under tight deadlines and in high-pressure live environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical, editorial, and on-air teams.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality content.
  • Strong understanding of soccer and MLS, its teams, players, and storylines.
  • High-level of commitment to a quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and
    compliance
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

 

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
