Overview

Located at the new Major League Soccer offices in New York, this position will provide oversight to the Player Health operations center in Arlington TX and other tasks assigned by the Senior Director, Medical Administration and Senior Vice President, Competition and Medical Administration. In addition, the Manager will be responsible for increasing efficiencies and processes for communication and education strategies.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the League’s Concussion Program, including Medical Sideline Review (MSR) and Spotter Program.
  • Interview, train, schedule, assess and provide oversight to the matchday medical spotters/supervisors located in Arlington, TX. 
  • Track compliance with head injury protocols by auditing match clips and EMR reports.
  • Utilize the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) for injury and illness data analytics.
  • Assist with administrative functions for the department and committee meetings which include but are not limited to scheduling meetings, taking notes, and following up on action items.
  • Attend weekly departmental operations meetings and provide updates as necessary. Coordinate logistics and shipping for the MLS Medical team and external partners as required.
  • Serve as department liaison for internal stakeholders and external partners for matchday technologies:  MLS Sporting Technology, Sportec Solutions, Headcheck Health, 8by8, Medallia.
  • Assist with the processing of payments for vendors and third parties.
  • Support medical programs including concussion, internal and external stakeholder education, education at events, and compliance as required.
  • Support database and file management
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of administrative experience in a health-related field
  • 3+ years of experience in events and/or operations (preferably within the sports industry)
  • 3+ years as a Certified Athletic Trainer

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Occasionally travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Desired Skills

  • Administrative experience in health-related field specifically involving medical care of athletes including emergency planning, concussion, cardiac issues, and other medical injuries/illness in sport.
  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
  • Knowledge of head injury protocols and management (Highly Desired)
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record systems (Highly Desired)
  • Knowledge of Power BI or other analytics tools such as Python or R (Highly Desired)
