Overview

The Senior Coordinator, Social Media is responsible for helping position the League as the most engaging and innovative sports brand in social media. The Senior Coordinator will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day tasks associated with all MLS social media platforms, with the goal to create the best possible content experience for our audience and grow the League's foothold in culture.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and post content for MLS social media platforms including but not limited to TikTok, Instagram, X, and Facebook
  • Provide and manage social media coverage for live matches on weekdays/evenings and weekends
  • Assist in daily channel monitoring and community management
  • Coordinate with internal creative and video teams to develop graphics, videos, and other visual content that tell impactful stories and align with platform best practices
  • Plan and activate unique, innovative programming at key league events including but not limited to MLS is Back, MLS All-Star, and MLS Cup
  • Collaborate across the enterprise on strategies that leverage players, partners, influencers, and/or celebrities to achieve enterprise-wide metrics
  • Assist in the management of adjacent league social media properties
  • Additional Responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3+ years of experience in social media, communications or marketing required

  • Innovating attitude and creative spirit
  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Prior corporate/brand experience with social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, X, and Facebook
  • Knowledge of soccer, MLS clubs, and the U.S. and Canadian Men’s National Teams
  • Passion for and experience in social media marketing, with strong understanding of trends and best practices along with creative copywriting skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite (or other video and photo editing platforms)
  • Meticulous with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal direction
  • Passionate about providing fans with a great digital experience by listening, interacting and producing innovative content
  • Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Demonstrated decision-making, editorial judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Desired Skills
  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
  • Prior experience managing team or league handles for soccer and/or sports team
  • Proficiency in graphic design, including Photoshop/Adobe Suite
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer

Major League Soccer offers a competitive starting base salary of $66,500 - $70,000, based on individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
