Overview

A janitorial custodian maintains, cleans, and sanitizes buildings, to ensure a safe and orderly environment. Key duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, restroom sanitation. Minor repairs will be as needed. Work independently and be proactive.

 

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning & Sanitization: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming.
  • Restroom Maintenance: General cleaning of toilets (if necessary), sinks, and counters while restocking supplies (soap, paper towels).
  • Waste Removal: Emptying trash cans and recycling bins and transporting waste to disposal areas.
  • Surface Care: Dusting furniture, wiping walls, and polishing fixtures.
  • Building Maintenance: Performing minor repairs if asked, such as replacing light bulbs, or unclogging drains or toilets.
  • Be proactive – areas that need attention must be taken care of and the work logged accordingly.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform physical labor.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, sanitation protocols, assembling furniture.
  • Maintenance Skills: Basic understanding of, or aptitude for, minor repairs.
  • Time Management: Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is often preferred but not always required.
  • Prior experience in cleaning or maintenance roles
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and partners.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic production environments.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

Total Rewards

Starting compensation $22.00/hour; 40 hours/week. MLS/SUM compensation is contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
