Overview

The Senior Coordinator, Sporting Affairs, is responsible for supporting the legal, compliance, and financial reporting functional area of Sporting Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Support sporting-related processes, including player transactions and MLS Club roster and salary budget management
  • Coordinate sporting administration and compliance processes (e.g., immigration, player registrations, sporting-related payments)
  • Maintain and update database of transaction agreements
  • Track, reconcile and audit intra-league exchange and utilization of Club allocation money
  • Update Club salary budgets to reflect all financial facets of midseason acquisitions on a pro-rated basis
  • Support compliance investigations and enforcement efforts
  • Assist in both intra-League dispute resolution and League involvement in sporting-related disputes before international bodies (e.g., FIFA Football Tribunal)
  • Liaise with League stakeholders, including within the League Office, with MLS Clubs, and across the broader soccer landscape
  • Support interpreting and administering League Rules
  • Assist in preparing for and executing MLS events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years of experience as a corporate paralegal, financial reporting analyst, or similar compliance role within a law firm, sports organization, or business
  • Deep knowledge and interest in Major League Soccer, its Clubs, players, and rules
  • Detail-oriented, possessing exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Outstanding computer skills focusing on Excel but also Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong Commitment to exercising good judgment and to handling confidential information with discretion

 Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of FIFA regulations and practice
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or French preferred

 Total Rewards

Major League Soccer offers a competitive starting base salary of $66,500 – 70,000, based on individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
